What is your proudest accomplishment as a leader?

My proudest accomplishment was taking the plunge to start my own business. It was a painful transition from Corporate America to entrepreneurship, particularly since I didn’t have a network of business partners, vendors, or prospects – or any start-up funds. It was a huge challenge to start a services-based business right before the pandemic, when companies were shutting down all over or pausing their marketing operations. It took a huge amount of resilience and patience to slowly build a list of clientele during such a significant economic downturn. Since then, I’ve built a stable business that allows me the flexibility to spend time giving back to the community.

What is the one piece of advice you’d give to other aspiring women leaders?

To thrive as a leader, believe in your abilities, recognize your unique strengths, and confidently share your ideas. Seek guidance from mentors and build a supportive network. Lead authentically and compassionately, prioritizing both your well-being and continuous learning to navigate challenges and stay relevant in the ever-evolving business landscape.

What inspires you most about your work or your industry?

Marketing inspires me every day because it’s a fascinating balance of art and science. It requires so much creativity and problem-solving, yet it requires operational excellence to implement and prove ROI. It’s also constantly changing, so it never gets boring. My favorite part of marketing is building new strategies and tactics that result in happy clients, who eventually turn into trusted colleagues and friends.

Who is a woman from history (or your own life) who has inspired you, and why?

Ching Shih, who went from poverty to leading a fleet of over 1,800 pirate ships. She was known for her efficiency, organizational skills, and her brilliant leadership. She successfully defied expectations and lived life on her own terms.

In one word, how would you describe the legacy you want to leave as a leader?
