What is your proudest accomplishment as a leader?

My proudest accomplishment is being a leader for my family. At two years old my son was diagnosed with Autism. I mustarded more strength and resilience than I knew I possessed. I set him up with all the services he needed to succeed which was no small feat during the height of Covid. He went from not talking and feeling a million miles away to 3 years later graduating from all of his therapies and excelling academically and socially. This experience inspired me to work in disability services and help others, like Jack, in my community.

What is the one piece of advice you’d give to other aspiring women leaders?

If you feel like there’s something out there that you’re supposed to be doing, if you have a passion for it, do it.

What inspires you most about your work or your industry?

Work in disability services in the non-profit industry is undoubtedly rewarding. I love working on the workforce development side because I find particular joy in helping someone find a great workplace in which they can succeed. It is incredibly inspiring because what someone does for a living shapes their perceptions of themself. Work can give us purpose and confidence and community. I love being a part of that moment when someone achieves their goal and has a chance to have an enriching life experience.

Who is a woman from history (or your own life) who has inspired you, and why?

Joan Rivers inspires me. She was bold, funny, and smart. Joan Rivers was a true trailblazer in the entertainment industry and a pioneer of women in comedy. Her tenacity and drive didn’t end on stage though. Ms. Rivers was also a savvy business woman that did exceptionally well with her QVC line of jewelry and apparel. Joan was also a mother who clearly loved her child. She was a complex, multidimensional woman who seemed to live a life well spent.

In one word, how would you describe the legacy you want to leave as a leader?
